Top Down Nirvana Beanie

Happy Fall everyone! I know it’s been way to long since my last post. Lots going on for sure. I’ll share when I’m able to.
I just finished a long awaited video. Way to long, but here we go! I made the Nirvana Beanie a few years ago and the pattern starts with the brim. Many in our Facebook Group wanted the Top Down version and I figured it out. For those that are visual learners I’ve finally finished the video. Which I’ll be posting today. The link will be here as well.

So without further ado…….The Nirvana Beanie (Top-down Version)

I’ve been in LOVE with how this beanie turned out when I created it a few years back. I love the texture. The photo shows the Slouchy version. I used Red Heart with Love yarn.

In the video I’m using “I Love this Yarn” and I made a fitted version. You can get 2 beanies out of 1 skein of yarn. I have yet to make a slouchy version out of this brand of yarn but I plan on it.

I’ll share pictures of the other beanies I’ve made on another post. I’ve only made about 10 or 11. Yes, been busy hooking!

Here is the Pattern: TOP DOWN NIRVANA BEANIE
Pattern directions are for Slouchy style, video is fitted.

Here is the video to make this Beanie:

Left-handed Top down Nirvana video

I hope you enjoy making this beanie as I have. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. I’ve got more projects coming your way. I’m actually obsessed with making Hexagon Cardigans right now as well. They are so fun to make, addicting and so many color choices!

Until next time Happy Hookin’!

Crochet Cable Scarf

Happy Friday All! Wow it’s been a long last few days of video taping. BUT I’m on a mission! If you are in our Crochet Group on Facebook you know the Rib-Twisted Headbands are being made like crazy!  I made the Ribbed Finger-less gloves to match as well!

But the other pattern that is super popular is the Cable Hat by Diana! I made a matching Scarf for it.  Finally!

So what yarn you see here is Red Heart Soft (Really Red) and Red Heart Super Saver in Dusty Grey.  Now the video is done and you’ll see it below.  I haven’t decided how I want to finish my Red Scarf yet. Hmmm…..Right now it measures 40″ and I’m wanting it just a bit longer.   I’ve used 2 skeins so far and I’m on my 3rd. BUT I also made a matching Cable Hat as well.  Both Scarfs I used a J Hook the Grey one is a little wider then the Red one.  I explain this in the Video that I made which I’ll share once it’s ready to go.  Here is the Pattern for you to enjoy.  Again I’m not a pattern writer so if there are any mistakes please let me know.  Crochet Cabled Scarf

As far as finishing your scarf.  There are a few options you can do.  You can  add fringe on the bottom, add Tassels, make it an infinity cowl and lastly  you can add a Large Pom Pom.  If you are adding Fringe you’ll just need to decide how long you want it.  Example if you want it 5″ cut your yarn 10″ fold in half and attach to each end of your scarf. I use the Latch Hook Method.  You’ll want about 4-5 strands.  Below are some of the items that I’m using for this project. (I’m an Amazon Affiliate)

I used the following materials.
Yarn: Red Heart Soft – Really Red – https://amzn.to/2L9aMm5
Hook Clover Amour J/6.0mm – https://amzn.to/35ttRa3
Clover Amour Set – https://amzn.to/307BmWl
Large Pom Pom Maker – https://amzn.to/2DvZ40y

Well that’s it for now! Thank you for stopping by!
Until next time Happy Crafting,

Crochet Mermaid Key chains

Happy Sunday All! Can hardly believe we are already half way through September! I mean the Holidays are literally just around the corner! Which means I need to get crafting!

Well I wanted to share what was on my hook with you all today. I’ve been making some super cute key chains which I’ll share those with you a little later.

But I was really wanting to make some Mermaid one! Well today I finally sat down and did. I’m super pleased with how they turned out. What do you think???

Well I sure hope you like them as I’d like to share with you all how I made them. I’m also working on a video for those that like a visual. Some parts are a little tricky and I sure hope I can explain it in writing. If you have any questions though please don’t hesitate to ask. Sometimes how you make something is super hard to put on paper. BUT I do my best. So here we go!
(Amazon Affiliate links below)

Materials I used are – Red Heart Yarn

Stitches:

MC:  Magic Circle
SC:  Single Crochet
CH:  Chain
FO:  Finish Off your work
Sts:  stitches
sl st:  Slip Stitch
sc inc:  Single Crochet Increase – add 2 sc sts in the same space
sc dec:  Single Crochet Decrease – pick up 2 sts and decrease

Notes:  You’ll be working in the Round unless otherwise stated in this project.

Directions:

Mermaid Body:  Start with a MC

R1:  6 sc inside the MC (6)
R2:  (sc x 1, sc inc) x 3 (9)
R3-5:  sc x 9 (9 sc)
R6:  (sc x 2, sc inc) x 3 (12)
R7-9:  sc x 12 (12 sc)
R10:  (sc x 3, sc inc) x 3 (15)
R11-12:  sc x 15 (15 sc)
R13:  (sc x 4, sc inc) x 3 (18)
R14-15:  sc x 18 (18 sc)
R16:  (sc x 5, sc inc) x 3 (21)
R17-18:  sc x 21 (21)

FO, leaving a long tail for sewing – Stuff firmly leaving a little but unstuffed at the top for sewing it closed.

Sew the top of the body closed – I worked through back loop on one side and the front loop on the other side – I show how I did this in my Video. When you are halfway through the body I added the Key chain then kept sewing. (Bring yarn back and reinforce key chain)

Mermaid Tail:  start with a ch 11
Working in BLO

R1: sc in 2nd chain from hook, ch 1 – turn (10)
R2:  BLO – sc x 8, sc dec, ch 1 – turn (9)
R3:  BLO – sc dec, sc x 7, ch 1 – turn (8)
R4:  BLO – sc x 6, sc dec, ch 1 – turn (7)
R5:  BLO – sc dec, sc x 5, ch 1 – turn (6)
R6:  BLO – sc x 4, sc dec, ch 1 – turn (5) (Middle of the Tail)
R7:  BLO – sc inc, sc x 4, ch 1 – turn (6) ***you may want to mark the first sc so you don’t miss it.
R8:  BLO – sc x 5, sc inc, ch 1 – turn (7) ***you may want to mark the last sc so you don’t miss it.
R9:  BLO – sc inc, sc x 6, ch 1 – turn (8)
R10:  BLO – sc x 7, sc inc, ch 1 – turn (9)
R11:  BLO – sc inc, sc x 8, ch 1 – turn (10)

Now to add a finishing touch to the tail Ch 1 do not turn –

Working at the top of the tail you’re going to work in the ridges skipping every other row.  (I insert in between the ridges)

You should end up with about 6 sc across the top the last one being at the other side of the tail.

Working on the side of the tail sc all the way down – Put 3 sc in the corner of the tail

Working at the bottom of the tail slip stitch will you get around to the other side of the tail

Working on the other side of the tail add 3 sc in the corner then sc all the way down til you get to the top. Slip stitch to the 1st sc, finish off, leaving a long tail to sew to the Mermaid Body.

I hope you enjoyed this pattern!  If you find any mistakes please let me know.

Still a popular pattern

Happy Tuesday All! Wow this has been a very busy month for me. With end of year school stuff and sports…you know priority’s. But things are winding down and I’ll be sharing lots more with you all.

Well I just have to say when my Friend Diana created this Still Oh so popular pattern in I want to say 2017 – I don’t think she realized how popular it would be next to her Cable Hat pattern. Both which I have made videos for. (click on my YouTube channel above)

Yes the Katniss Messy Bun Beanie is still very popular and after much thought I’ll be re-doing the 1st video I made of this beanie for a few reasons. I would like to show you all how to close it for a full beanie instead of a Messy Bun Hat, I never made a left handed version and last it was my 1st video and I was super nervous!! LOL! So stay tuned for that. If you don’t yet have the pattern for this Beanie and you aren’t a member of our FB Group – Click Link below to download!

Well that’s all I have for today! Let see what else I’ve got going on this week! As always thanks for stopping by & Happy Craftin’,

The X-Over Beanie/Bun Pattern

Happy Saturday All! As promised I’m here today with a new Beanie pattern! I came up with this pattern on my own. Very rare but it happens every now and then! My Mom actually showed me the stitch. She made a pretty scarf with it and I thought Hmmmm…we need a beanie to go with it. We have NO idea what the stitch is called so I made up the name. (X-Over)

So last year our Facebook Group we did a 6 week Hat Challenge. Every week we did a different hat that wasn’t already shared in the Group! Now that was hard to do as there are many Free patterns that we share! This was the Beanie we did the last week!

I’m calling this the X-Over Beanie because you are actually crossing over stitches to get this look. I’ll be doing a video on this one for those that are visual. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask me!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Until next time Happy Craftin’,

Baby Cable Beanies

Hey All! I know LONG time no post – I tell you so much has been going on since my Granddaughter “Alana Elise” has been born! Being at my Daughters and helping her (C-Section) and working, Hooking and trying to make Videos?? I just need to slow it down! LOL! I have made a few new videos and am making more!  I wanted to share these 2 Hats I made for my Granddaughter with the Adult Cable Pattern!

I’ll post a photo with her wearing it! She doesn’t seem to be a fan of having things on her head! LOL! Anyway, here is the Pattern by Diana Borgstrom for the ADULT Version M@ssy Bun Cable Hat
UPDATED to ADD the BABY Cable – Baby Cable Hat

Now there are a few things that I’ll do different next time for the Baby Size – 1 is to make the brim smaller – I’ll do Ch 6 instead of the one that is in the Adult version although you can fold it up if you’d like. There will be a video made for this size coming very soon.

One more thing I did 50 rows for the brim and that fit her perfect. Remember this pattern is worked by measurements – so measure the head that the beanie is for. I just LOVE how tiny and cute this is and LOVE how this fits on my Granddaughter!

I have more to share and will do so very soon!  I just now seen some messages and I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I’m usually notified when I get comments and I wasn’t. UGH! Anyway enjoy the pattern. Need to see the Video? You can see it HERE!

Thanks for stopping by and as always….

Week 2 – Faye Doll Crochet a Long Videos

Happy Saturday All! Been busy with work and getting videos & pattern ready for week 2 of our Free Doll CAL! I totally spaced and forgot to add the Videos for week 1 so I’ll be posting them here for you!  I also created a playlist for Faye on my YouTube Channel!

I’ve had some questions about the Tulip Hook 2.5mm that I’m using for this doll. First time I’ve used this Brand and I have to say I really LOVE it!  I only bought the one hook but may just have to buy the set. Hmmmm……isn’t Mother’s Day tomorrow?  Anyway…I love my Clover Amour but am also a huge fan of the Tulip Brand also. Can one have to many hooks? Besides they are super comfy and I know I crochet longer before having to put down to give my fingers a rest.  In the video I also share about the bent tip needles I used and have to say they are great for not just Doll Making but any project!

***Edited to Add the Pattern for Week 2 which is the Faye Dress & Shoes CAL sorry about that!

Well that’s all I have right now if you are interested in joining our Facebook Group click the link – Amigurumi Dolls Worldwide **You’ll be asked 3 questions before you join, this is just to cut down on spammers!
