Happy Sunday All! Can hardly believe we are already half way through September! I mean the Holidays are literally just around the corner! Which means I need to get crafting!

Well I wanted to share what was on my hook with you all today. I’ve been making some super cute key chains which I’ll share those with you a little later.

But I was really wanting to make some Mermaid one! Well today I finally sat down and did. I’m super pleased with how they turned out. What do you think???

Well I sure hope you like them as I’d like to share with you all how I made them. I’m also working on a video for those that like a visual. Some parts are a little tricky and I sure hope I can explain it in writing. If you have any questions though please don’t hesitate to ask. Sometimes how you make something is super hard to put on paper. BUT I do my best. So here we go!

Notes:  You’ll be working in the Round unless otherwise stated in this project.

Directions:

Mermaid Body:  Start with a MC

R1:  6 sc inside the MC (6)
R2:  (sc x 1, sc inc) x 3 (9)
R3-5:  sc x 9 (9 sc)
R6:  (sc x 2, sc inc) x 3 (12)
R7-9:  sc x 12 (12 sc)
R10:  (sc x 3, sc inc) x 3 (15)
R11-12:  sc x 15 (15 sc)
R13:  (sc x 4, sc inc) x 3 (18)
R14-15:  sc x 18 (18 sc)
R16:  (sc x 5, sc inc) x 3 (21)
R17-18:  sc x 21 (21)

FO, leaving a long tail for sewing – Stuff firmly leaving a little but unstuffed at the top for sewing it closed.

Sew the top of the body closed – I worked through back loop on one side and the front loop on the other side – I show how I did this in my Video. When you are halfway through the body I added the Key chain then kept sewing. (Bring yarn back and reinforce key chain)

Mermaid Tail:  start with a ch 11
Working in BLO

R1: sc in 2nd chain from hook, ch 1 – turn (10)
R2:  BLO – sc x 8, sc dec, ch 1 – turn (9)
R3:  BLO – sc dec, sc x 7, ch 1 – turn (8)
R4:  BLO – sc x 6, sc dec, ch 1 – turn (7)
R5:  BLO – sc dec, sc x 5, ch 1 – turn (6)
R6:  BLO – sc x 4, sc dec, ch 1 – turn (5) (Middle of the Tail)
R7:  BLO – sc inc, sc x 4, ch 1 – turn (6) ***you may want to mark the first sc so you don’t miss it.
R8:  BLO – sc x 5, sc inc, ch 1 – turn (7) ***you may want to mark the last sc so you don’t miss it.
R9:  BLO – sc inc, sc x 6, ch 1 – turn (8)
R10:  BLO – sc x 7, sc inc, ch 1 – turn (9)
R11:  BLO – sc inc, sc x 8, ch 1 – turn (10)

Now to add a finishing touch to the tail Ch 1 do not turn –

Working at the top of the tail you’re going to work in the ridges skipping every other row.  (I insert in between the ridges)

You should end up with about 6 sc across the top the last one being at the other side of the tail.

Working on the side of the tail sc all the way down – Put 3 sc in the corner of the tail

Working at the bottom of the tail slip stitch will you get around to the other side of the tail

Working on the other side of the tail add 3 sc in the corner then sc all the way down til you get to the top. Slip stitch to the 1st sc, finish off, leaving a long tail to sew to the Mermaid Body.

I hope you enjoyed this pattern!  If you find any mistakes please let me know.

As I mentioned I’ll be working on a video this week. So make sure to come back and check as I’ll be posting it here OR click on my YouTube button at the top right hand corner and subscribe so you know when I make new videos. I’ve got another video that is just about ready! YES I’m back to making more.

Have a great rest of your Sunday, thanks for stopping by & Happy Craftin’,
