Baby Cable Beanies

Hey All! I know LONG time no post – I tell you so much has been going on since my Granddaughter “Alana Elise” has been born! Being at my Daughters and helping her (C-Section) and working, Hooking and trying to make Videos?? I just need to slow it down! LOL! I have made a few new videos and am making more!  I wanted to share these 2 Hats I made for my Granddaughter with the Adult Cable Pattern!

I’ll post a photo with her wearing it! She doesn’t seem to be a fan of having things on her head! LOL! Anyway, here is the Pattern by Diana Borgstrom for the ADULT Version M@ssy Bun Cable Hat
UPDATED to ADD the BABY Cable – Baby Cable Hat

Now there are a few things that I’ll do different next time for the Baby Size – 1 is to make the brim smaller – I’ll do Ch 6 instead of the one that is in the Adult version although you can fold it up if you’d like. There will be a video made for this size coming very soon.

One more thing I did 50 rows for the brim and that fit her perfect. Remember this pattern is worked by measurements – so measure the head that the beanie is for. I just LOVE how tiny and cute this is and LOVE how this fits on my Granddaughter!

I have more to share and will do so very soon!  I just now seen some messages and I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I’m usually notified when I get comments and I wasn’t. UGH! Anyway enjoy the pattern. Need to see the Video? You can see it HERE!

Thanks for stopping by and as always….

The BoHo Messy Bun Beanie

So as promised here is my new Messy Bun Hat Design! So this is very rare that I create a Design I normally test patterns for others! LOL! But here they are straight from my brain and inspired by so many hats I’ve seen!  Super warm and cozy.

I’m calling this The “BoHo Messy Bun Beanie”.  Which was inspired by a member of a FB Group I’m in. I originally thought “Bohemian” but was like hmmm. I thought BoHo then as I saw a comment on my post suggesting the same name! Great minds think alike right?  Anyway I’m working on a video for this hat. Hopefully this week! It’s super easy and FUN to make!

This one I used Red Heart with Love yarn #4 worsted in color Mango! Doesn’t it just POP!  You can’t tell from the photo but it’s super squishy!  I’m just in love with this look.  It’s got that casual but also Elegant look about it.  I’m thinking I see a matching scarf to go with maybe?  Oh yes I see it and Infinity style?  Hmmmmm…..sounds like another Design pattern in the making!

If you are interested in purchasing a Beanie these will be in my Etsy soon. If you are a fellow crocheter you can download your copy here! BoHo Messy Bun Beanie If you have any questions about the pattern or you find mistakes please let me know. Once you get the hang of it they are pretty fast to make.  As mentioned above I’ll be doing a video soon so if you want to see the video (some of us are visual – I LOVE videos) then subscribe to me on YouTube so you know when I load the video.  The link is up above on the right.

Lastly, here is a Messy Bun version which is in the pattern.  I mean you can’t make a hat now a days without it being a Messy Bun too right?  This one uses Red Heart Essentials  yarn!

Stay tuned for the next one I’m going to share it’s another one that was in my brain.  I will be sharing this a little later today so come back and check it out!

Thanks for stopping by & as always…

Crochet 3 Color Katniss Hat

May already! So much going on! It’s just never ending here in my household! I’ve also had my Grandson come and visit and well everything else goes out the window! That one has got this “Nana” wrapped around his little finger! I just can’t get enough of him!

The Mindless Messy Bun Hat

Happy Saturday all! Well just had to share this extremely easy Messy Bun Hat I made the other night! I wanted something that I totally didn’t have to think about while crocheting and this is what I came up with!  The “Mindless” Messy Bun Hat.  Click for pattern – Mindless Messy Bun Hat

This one is done from the Brim up and is all HDC’s (half double crochet) except the brim which is done in sc’s (single crochet). This works up extremely fast which is another Woo Hoo! Oh there’s also a video below the instructions.

Mindless Messy Bun Hat
Teen/Adult Size – fits 19 – 22 inch head

Materials Used:

Yarn: Loops & Thread Charisma – Chocolate Cupcake #5 Bulky
Hook: L/8mm Hook
Extras – Tapestry/Yarn Needle

Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch – Chain
sc – Single Crochet
hdc – Half Double Crochet
hdc2tog – half double crochet 2 together or also called HDC Dec – half double crochet decrease
YO – Yarn Over
sl st – slip stitch

Note: HDC2TOG – YO insert hook in next stitch, pull up a loop, YO insert hook in next stitch, You’ll have 5 Loops on your hook – YO and pull through all 5 loops on your hook. This is your HDC Decrease or HDC2TOG.

Instructions:

Brim: Ch 6
Row 1:  sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch1, turn (5 sc)
Row 2: sc in next sc, sc in BLO in next 3 sc, sc in last sc, ch1, turn (5 sc)
Row 3 – 48: Repeat Row 2
Note – This for me worked up to about 19″ – my head is about 21 1/2 – this stretches so make sure you MEASURE around your own head as you go along. It will also stretch with wear.  If you are making for a child – there are many charts out there with basic head measurements.

Closing the Brim – Bring both ends together and sl st down going through both thicknesses. This is your seam so make sure you turn it inside before you start your Hat part. If you choose to.

Hat Part: ch 2 doesn’t count as a stitch unless otherwise noted
Row 1: ch 2, HDC evenly all around the brim, join to hdc, ch 2 (48 hdc)
Row 2 – 7: HDC in each across, join to hdc, ch 2 (48 hdc)  ***From Brim to here measured just a tad over 5″

Decreasing:
Row 8: (hdc in next 2 stitches, hdc2tog) – Repeat () around, join to hdc, ch 2 (26 hdc)
Row 9: (hdc in next 2 stitches, hdc2tog) – Repeat () around, join to hdc, ch 2 (27hdc)
Row 10: (hdc in next 2 stitches, hdc2tog) – Repeat () around, join to hdc, ch 2 (21 hdc)
FO – and weave in all yarn ends with your needle.

Hope you enjoyed this SUPER easy “Mindless” messy bun hat!  Questions comments leave me a comment!

Messy Bun Madness

Well it’s the weekend and I’ve got some time to post! Woo Hoo! Well the “Messy Bun” craze has not faded out! I have to say that these are just AWESOME! I’m completely hooked on Making them and pictured below are my 2 Favorite ones to make!

The Grey one is called the “Katniss” Messy Bun hat inspired by the cowl worn by Katniss in the Movie “Hunger Games”.  I just absolutely LOVE the texture of this Messy Bun Beanie.  The next is the Cable Messy Bun Hat – This is also one of my favorites to make. Love how Elegant this hat looks.

These patterns are from a friend I met in a Facebook Crochet Group “Diana B” – I was lucky enough to test her patterns! She also created a Crochet Group which I’m a part of where she shares her patterns FREELY.  The name of the Group is Crochet Messy  Bun
The group is growing fast with almost 10,000 Members!  All patterns on this group are FREE.  I’ve also with her permission made some Videos for her patterns.  I have made a total of 3 – adding the 2 in the photos below. – Never thought I’d be doing videos but there was so many asking questions about the “Katniss” Beanie that thought it would be a good idea.  Thank you Diana for allowing me to share your Beautiful Creations!

Well thanks for taking the time to visit – will be back with more shares and as always,
Happy Craftin’,
