Crochet Ribbed Beanies

Hey All! Wow it was a rainy day today! It never rains in California!  But when it does….it POURS!  Does that sound like a song? LOL! So what does one do?  Crochet Beanies of course!
Here is what I’ve worked on over the last few days. I’m working on a video tutorial for them as well! It’s almost finished. So I’ll post that here as well when its finished.

**Update Video is below

Let me first start by saying that these Beanies are so EASY to work up. PLUS they look good on anyone! LOVE that they are gender neutral.

Also you can use ANY Yarn weight you’d like.  From left to right is a #4 weight Yarn Loops & Thread Impeccable, The White in the middle is #5 weight Yarn also Loops & Thread Charisma, and the last is a #6 weight Yarn Lion Brands  Thick&  Quick!

Now I’ll say the last one works up the quickest! Why? Because  you’re using a thick yarn and a large hook. I used a 9/10 MM crochet hook for that one. For the beanie in the middle I used a K hook and the #4 Beanie I used a J Hook. Now you can play around with the all the different yarn weights and hook sizes to see what you like.   If you have mostly #4 yarn but want a thicker Beanie? No problem just use 2 strands held together. Super versatile.

Or if I wanted say a Slouchy style Beanie.  I’d go up a hook size or 2 so I would get a looser fitting Beanie.  For example I would use #4 yarn which is the lightest weight yarn.  I used a J hook and got a firm stitch. Not sure how slouchy you can get with a thicker yarn BUT I’m sure it’s doable.

Here is a helpful tool that I found the other day that I’ve been using for years!  It’s a Head circumference chart.  I feel it’s pretty accurate for all the average size heads.  Download HERE – Head circumference guide

Quick tip about this Beanie – It’s worked in Measurements so there is no stitch count.  So be sure to download the Guide above for the size you want to make.

Materials:
Yarn – Various ones that I mention above
Hook: Clover Amour Size M/9mm – https:///31Ml1lD
Clover Amour Set – https://amzn.to/307BmWl
Large Pom Pom Maker – https://amzn.to/2DvZ40y
Stitch Marker – https://amzn.to/2NfbHnC
Yarn Needle – https://amzn.to/2O905lw

Directions:

So as mentioned above you are working with Measurements so you’ll need to decide what size you want to make.  I’ll give you what I did for the Adult sizes in the photo above.

I started with a chain that was 11″ long – this includes the brim to flip over. So for me with #4 yarn & a J hook I got 39 chains –  with #5 yarn and K hook I got 37 chains – with #6 yarn & M hook I got 24 chains.

Once you have the amount of chains you need for the side you are making
Row 1:  HDC in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across, ch 1, turn
Row 2 – ??:  HDC in BLO of each stitch across ***except in the 1st & last stitch you’ll want to go through BOTH loops.  This will give you a nice clean edge when you fold up your brim.  Ch1, turn.

Repeat Row 2 til you get the head circumference you need.  For the ones I did I went 18-19 inches. This style of ribbing is stretchy.   Below are the number of Rows I got for each yarn weight.
#4 Yarn (brand above) –  35 rows  **Using Red Heart w/Love I got 41 rows
#5 Yarn –  36 rows
#6 Yarn –  29 rows

Next you’re going to bring both ends together and slip stitch going through both thicknesses. ***This will be your seam and the inside of your hat.  When you reach the end FO and leave a long tale for sewing up the top of the Beanie.

With the yarn needle you’ll weave it in and out the top of the Beanie. Pulling tight at the end and making sure it’s completely closed.  Turn the hat inside out ADD your Pom Pom if desired and you’re DONE!  Now you could add a sc edge around the brim if you’d like. (I show this in the video)  But that’s all there is to it!

So I’ll leave you with that for now! Thanks so much for stopping by! If you have any questions please leave me a comment!

Ribbed Finger-less Gloves

Just thought I’d pop on real quick and share this new pattern with you all. I mean what’s a Ribbed Twisted Headband with out Finger-less Gloves right?  I’m in LOVE with the color! It’s Hobby Lobby’s “I LOVE this Yarn in colorway “Ocean”.

Our FB Group is a roll with the Headbands for sure. I mean they are super fast to make. Not to mention super adorable ON!

So I went with it and made up the pattern.  I think they came out pretty cute. Talk about simple?  They take about 1 hr to make the pair. Not bad!  I’ll be making a video for the gloves as well. So stay tuned for that.  I’ve got a few videos lined up in the next few days!
Again I’m not a pattern writer but I do my best to explain exactly how I make things.  If you have any questions with the pattern please let me know.

More Twisted Headbands

It’s been a busy crafting weekend. To say that I might be a little obsessed with these super EASY Rib-Twisted Headbands is well…YES I might be.

How cute are the Red ones with the white trim? Just in time for Holidays! All I did for that one is after I worked the pattern I took some Bernat Pipsqueak Yarn and added a single crochet row to the top and the bottom, weaved in the yarn tails then went on to the twist part! SO FUN! If you haven’t see these before you can find the video and the pattern in the post before this one or CLICK HERE to get the pattern!

Will share more of what I’ve been working on a little later! Thanks for stopping by.

Crocheted Baby Bow Headband

Well looks like everything is back in order!  So here’s my newest video and project! My Daughter is Pregnant with my 2nd Grand-baby and it’s a GIRL! My Co-Worker is also PG and having a Girl. Their Due Dates are a day apart! July 3rd & 4th! So what do I do?  Well Baby Bow Headbands of course!  Many more colors in the making!

Super easy to make and if you’re following my on YouTube then you’ve seen the video. If you aren’t a subscriber yet click on the link in the right hand corner and it’ll take you to my YouTube Channel. I’m also posting the Video below.

I’m thinking you’d like the directions for this? Well I think I can help with that! These are so easy to make you won’t be able to make just one!  Also FYI this project is done by measuring so you can do any size you’d like.

Materials: (affiliate links)

Yarn:  Red Heart Soft Baby Steps #4
Hook:  Clover Amour I 5.5mm hook – http://amzn.to/2pw9cyQ
project is done by measurements so you can use any size hook
Accessories: Scissors, Yarn Needle, Tape Measure (Stitch/Row Counter- optional)

Abbreviations:
Ch:  Chain
Sc:  Single Crochet
FSC: Foundation Single Crochet
Slst:  Slip stitch

Headband

R1:  50 FSC – (or however many you need to get the size you want) Don’t want to do a FSC? You can chain til you get the size you need then go to R2. *Bring both ends together and join w/slst, ch 1
R2-5:  sc in each stitch around, join w/slst, ch 1 (50)  Add more rows if you want it wider.  For the Baby size mine measured 1 ¼”

Finish off after last round and Weave in ends

Bow –  *If you want a Longer Bow add more chains if you want a Wider Bow add more Rows.

Ch 36 – I worked in the back bumps of the chains to give it a nice finish on the bottom.
R1: sc in each back bump of chain across – join to the 1st sc – being careful not to twist. ch 1 (36)
R2 – 12 – sc in each stitch around, join w/sl st, ch 1 (36) Mine measured 2 ¾” this was perfect for Baby Size.

Bring rows of the Bow together – making sure that where you finished off is in the middle – With the yarn threaded run it down the middle of the bow to the bottom and pull tight to scrunch it up. Then Wrap yarn around til it’s as thick as you’d like it. Attach to Bow to the Headband.

You can sell what you make from this pattern just not the pattern itself as it’s FREE! Mentions are awesome and appreciated! Enjoy!

That’s it! As always thanks for stopping by and as always…..
