I’ve had many Baby Gifts in the last few weeks that I’ve been doing and am still not done! I’ll share those a little later this week! I wanted to share the last video that I did which is the 3 Color Katniss hat! I’m so in Love with this texted hat! The color combos are endless!
Enjoy the video and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!
Happy Saturday all! Well just had to share this extremely easy Messy Bun Hat I made the other night! I wanted something that I totally didn’t have to think about while crocheting and this is what I came up with! The “Mindless” Messy Bun Hat. Click for pattern – Mindless Messy Bun Hat
This one is done from the Brim up and is all HDC’s (half double crochet) except the brim which is done in sc’s (single crochet). This works up extremely fast which is another Woo Hoo! Oh there’s also a video below the instructions.
Mindless Messy Bun Hat
Teen/Adult Size – fits 19 – 22 inch head
Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch – Chain
sc – Single Crochet
hdc – Half Double Crochet
hdc2tog – half double crochet 2 together or also called HDC Dec – half double crochet decrease
YO – Yarn Over
sl st – slip stitch
Note: HDC2TOG – YO insert hook in next stitch, pull up a loop, YO insert hook in next stitch, You’ll have 5 Loops on your hook – YO and pull through all 5 loops on your hook. This is your HDC Decrease or HDC2TOG.
Instructions:
Brim: Ch 6
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch1, turn (5 sc)
Row 2: sc in next sc, sc in BLO in next 3 sc, sc in last sc, ch1, turn (5 sc)
Row 3 – 48: Repeat Row 2
Note – This for me worked up to about 19″ – my head is about 21 1/2 – this stretches so make sure you MEASURE around your own head as you go along. It will also stretch with wear. If you are making for a child – there are many charts out there with basic head measurements.
Closing the Brim – Bring both ends together and sl st down going through both thicknesses. This is your seam so make sure you turn it inside before you start your Hat part. If you choose to.
Hat Part: ch 2 doesn’t count as a stitch unless otherwise noted
Row 1: ch 2, HDC evenly all around the brim, join to hdc, ch 2 (48 hdc)
Row 2 – 7: HDC in each across, join to hdc, ch 2 (48 hdc) ***From Brim to here measured just a tad over 5″
Decreasing:
Row 8: (hdc in next 2 stitches, hdc2tog) – Repeat () around, join to hdc, ch 2 (26 hdc)
Row 9: (hdc in next 2 stitches, hdc2tog) – Repeat () around, join to hdc, ch 2 (27hdc)
Row 10: (hdc in next 2 stitches, hdc2tog) – Repeat () around, join to hdc, ch 2 (21 hdc)
FO – and weave in all yarn ends with your needle.

Hi Crafters! Just wanted to post real quick about a website I came upon last year when I started Looming. It’s called Knitting Rays of Hope. They make hats for Cancer Warriors, Babies in the NICU and a few other causes. I believe they just started in 2012 so this site is farely new.
I just sent this package last week filled with hats mostly for boys but my daughter and I also made some for the girls. We plan on making more to send hopefully in a few month!
If you have been wanting to make and donate hats you’ve got to check them out! I know there are LOTS of places but just had to share this one too! PLUS they have some great hats for the Loom too which you can find HERE! I know they have a Minion one that I am for sure going to try. If you have thought about Looming they’ve got some GREAT tips and how to’s on the site also! As I mentioned that’s how I found them! So CLICK HERE to check them out! As always thanks for stopping by &
Can’t believe Spring is here! Sorry to have been MIA it was a super crazy busy end of 2014 and didn’t stop at the beginning of 2015!
I wanted to share a few things I’ve been working on. This time of year is when Baseball starts in my house so let’s just say “It’s all about that BASE” for sure!
I had an order for a Baseball Hat and soon I’ll have some in my Etsy shop! Will post more little peaks on what I’m working on a little later too!
Love how this turned out! Below is a close up of the flower on the hat! Isn’t the button just way to cute!
I wanted to share some hats & beanies that I donated in August. So what does 29 Headbands & 34 Beanies look like? Started these on Friday July 25th and they were ALL finished by Monday August 4th! My Mom helped with some of the hats and so did my Daughter & Son-in-law! Yep he loomed a hat!
They went to an Orphanage in Zambia – You can read about the Mission HERE! Loved making them! I have to see if I can get pics with the kids wearing them! I would LOVE to see that!
I hope to be making some more hats for an Orphanage in Mexico that they go to more frequently. I barely made a dent in the yarn that I have.
If you are interested in helping out please let me know. We can get together at my house! I’ll want to plan a “Hookin’ Date” soon! Crocheters, Knitta’s and Loomers welcome! Just want to donate leave me a comment here or you can email me at yvonne@yvonnemetz.com
Hope you all have a great weekend! We’ve got a tournament this weekend so my time will be spent at the ball park! Yes, I’ll have my yarn & bag with me! Wait til you see what I’m working on. Maybe I’ll try to show you just a little teaser!
