15 HDC = Approx 4 ¼”
10 Rows = 4 ¼ “
Pattern:
Ch 70 or size you need for your head. This measured about 18 ½” my head measures 21” This will stretch so it was perfect.
Row 1: working in the bump, HDC in 3rd ch from hook and in each across, ch 1, turn (68)
Row 2: working in BLO, HDC x 68, ch1, turn (68)
Row 3-10: Repeat Row 2, ch 1 (Mine measured at 4 ¼ at this point. If you’d like it longer then keep going.
Finish Off and leave a tail for sewing.

I wish u would do the headband in a lighter color so we can see your work better this is just a comment
Sorry for the late response. No problem at all. I may do another one with a thicker yarn. I’ll use a lighter color.
Subscribe to my YouTube and you’ll know when it comes out.
Thank you Yvonne for your time. Lovely pattern. I ve made them and gifted them.
They have been well received. God’s blessings on you!
Sorry for the delayed response! This makes me happy! YAY! So glad you enjoyed and that the Gift-E’s loved them as well.
You are very welcome!
Hi there! Thanks for this pattern! I felt like when all was said and done, and I went to put it on, the starting chain was tight and the rest of the headband was stretchy. Thoughts on avoiding that? Thanks!
Hi Lindsay, So sorry I’m just now seeing this. Normally I get notifications! I know what you are saying. You could always use a bigger hook for the 1st row.
Then change back to the smaller hook. Or you can start with a Foundation Half Double crochet. This will give it stretch. Hope this helps.
When I click on the head circumference chart it just sits there. How many chains would you
suggest for a two yr old girl and a 5yearold boy?
I think her head is 17″ but not sure. Am not able to measure.
Hi Linda, not sure why you can’t open on your end. I just tried and it opens for me here. But let me tell you what I did. I have a 3 yr old Grandson and his Head measures 19″ BUT for this beanie we are starting from the ear to the top of the head. You’ll want to chain til you get about 9 1/2 inches – this will give you plenty of length to flip over for a Brim. Then you’ll work the pattern til it fits around the head minus a few inches (THIS will stretch) So I stopped at about 17 1/2 for the piece that I did. NOW for 5 yr old the Guidelines say average size is 18-19″ This is actually 2-5 yrs old. Hopefully this is helpful if not please don’t hesitate to ask me. If you still can’t open the Chart send me an email and I can get it to you.
Thank you for stopping by.
